Social Science Centre Perimeter Doors

The perimeter doors in the Social Science Centre are all on the Chubb Card Access system. Some doors are exit only doors. Social Science faculty and staff can only open the perimeter entrance doors after hours by using your Western One card. Simply hold your card in front of the proximity card reader until the light changes to green. The locking mechanism will release and then you can pull or push the door to open.

Social Science faculty, staff and graduate students should be in the card access database by default. If your card is an HID iCLASS card and you are unable to gain access to the building, please either email ssc-cardaccess@uwo.ca or call the SSTS main office at 519 661-2152 (x. 82152). If you require immediate assistance for after hours building access trouble, please contact the Campus Police at 519 661-3300 (x. 83300).

Non-Social Science persons who require perimeter door access to the Social Science Centre must complete an application form found on our Accounts and Access page. Please check SSC Building Card Swipe Access Only. Note that only applicants with a formal affiliation with Social Science will be approved. For example, Adjunct faculty, thesis students whose advisor is in Social Science, working in 8200, etc. Requests to study in the Social Science Centre will not be approved.

Access Trouble

  • Check your card:  Social Science members should ensure that their Western One photo ID card has HID iCLASS on the back bottom left corner. If your card is not the right type, or it is not working and visibly damaged, please go to Student Central, WSS 1120 in the Western Student Services building.
